• Stage 1: application including early proposal - chosen theme.
• Stage 2: Shortlisted School participants will receive the invite to attend stage 2 Pitch Day final.
• Each team will have 48 hours to finalize and submit their idea, in line with the rubric.
• All teams will attend the Pitch Day final and pitch their ideas to the judging panel on Day 4.

• Judges will select the team with the best idea as the winner of each theme.

The participating schools will be selected based on their compliance with registration requirements and ability to attend all events across the duration of the event.

10 Schools will be selected to participate in the Pitch Day final, with five schools competing in each theme.

Each school can register and participate with one team only to compete in only one of the themes.

Shortlisted schools will need to guarantee:

• High speed internet
• Digital literacy for all team members
• Full accessibility to the Teams application throughout the event
• Laptops will be provided to deliver final pitch.

English is the official language for registration, participation, idea/solution submission, and pitching.

All teams must arrange and guarantee their own interpretation support if needed.

• Number/percentage of grade 9 to 12 students involved in pre internal school competitions/submissions
• Each school must complete and submit their registration before/on November 15, 2024, deadline.
• Each school can register and participate with one team only to compete in only one of the themes.
• Registration submissions will be reviewed and only 10 schools will be selected to participate in the Pitch Day final, 5 schools per theme.
• Schools will be selected to participate based on the below:
  • Compliance with registration requirements (any incomplete registration will automatically disqualify the school for selection)
  • School proposal for Climate Action Award 2024, in line with the theme objectives:
    • Number/percentage of grade 9 to 12 students involved in pre internal school competitions/events before proposal is submitted. (Photos/short video evidence)
    • Clarity of proposal
    • Novelty
    • Scalability
    • Community Impact
    • Expected positive outcomes on climate change.
    • Creativity of proposal
    • Innovative nature of the proposal
    • Predicted social behaviour or tangible physical outcomes/positive impact.

Registration is free for all schools.

Each team must have one teacher allocated by the team’s school.

The team’s teacher will:

• Help the team brainstorm and generate ideas.
• Provide advice, feedback and guidance on the shape of their proposal/pitch.
• Keep an eye on the schedule and the deadline.
• Help to support the delivery of the pitch (not to present)
• Help the team rehearse the presentation.
• Encourage the team and help members use their skills to help others.
• If successful – will support the delivery of the proposal, working with the Grant Funding Team.

The team’s teacher will NOT:

• Do the work instead of the team (write a few lines or paragraphs of the proposal)
• Directly contribute to the actual submitted proposed solution.

A panel of expert/specialized judges will be allocated to oversee each theme. Each group will judge the teams competing under its assigned theme.

Judges will be judging pitches and proposals based on the below:

• Originality of the idea
• Creativity of the idea
• Demonstrable and current research underpinning idea
• Innovative use of technology to support the idea.
• Clear Scope of Work, objectives, vision and mission
• Feasibility of implementation and viability
• Realistic and achievable action plan
• Proposed community Impact
• Clear outcomes and impact
• Comprehensive SWOT Analysis
• Collaboration and Partnership plan
• Well-defined social behaviour or physical impact
• Submission of extra creative elements that include logo, slogan and other marketing elements.
• Organized presentation and confident approach

Each winning idea will be awarded ‘grant funding’ up to 200,000AED to allow the implementation of their idea in the community. The award will be given in a “Grant” form, and disbursements will be done against achieved milestones.

For each theme, the team members (and lead teacher) of each winning team will receive an individual prize/voucher equivalent of 5000AED.

All schools, team members, and coaches shortlisted for the ‘Climate Action Award Final Pitch Day’ will receive Participation Certificates.

Schools and members of the two winning teams will receive Winning Certificates.

Theme 1

Climate Conscious Children

This theme focuses on integrating carbon literacy/climate education into schools. Teams will develop innovative educational tools, programs, and activities that enhance student and/or community understanding of carbon footprint, climate change and sustainability.

The goal is to create a generation of environmentally conscious students who are equipped with the knowledge to make sustainable choices and invoke positive change in their school or local community

Theme 2

Climate Campus Challenge

This theme focuses on the design of practical and actionable physical strategies that are measurable and enable schools to adopt longstanding sustainable practices. This may include, but is not limited to, energy conservation, waste reduction, and green infrastructure.

The goal is to transform schools into models of sustainability, demonstrating eco-friendly practices and how they can be integrated into daily operations and activities.

All participants commit to follow the dress code required by Emirates Foundation as per the below:

• All Participants should dress modestly and professionally. Clothing should not be transparent, indecently exposing parts of the body or displaying offensive pictures or slogans or prints of a political nature.
• Participants are expected to follow the Business Casual dress code during the four days of the virtual and physical shortlisted team event, while meeting/video calling with their team members and teachers, pitching, judging, and later during winners’ announcement.
